Toyota announces new Executive appointments in Europe
Mr. Tetsuo Agata has resigned from the board and other TME duties to accept a new international appointment at Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America Inc. (TEMA). Mr. Ochiai replaces Mr. Agata as Executive Vice-President of TME, and President of R&D and Manufacturing Company, TME, effective 25 June 2008. Mr. Ochiai has also been promoted to Managing Officer, TMC.
At TME’s manufacturing companies, Mr. Katsunori Kojima has been appointed Managing Director of Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK Ltd. (TMUK), effective as of 1 June 2008, whilst Mr. Hirotaka Morishita assumes the position of President, Toyota Motor Industries Poland Sp. z o.o. (TMIP) from 1 July 2008.
Mr. Toyoda first joined TMC in 1984. He has served as a Vice-President at Toyota’s joint venture with General Motors, New United Motor Manufacturing Inc, (NUMMI) in California, USA, and joined TMC’s Board of Directors in 2000. In 2003, he assumed the position of Senior Managing Director before being promoted to Executive Vice-President, TMC, in June, 2005. As part of his new EVP responsibilities, Mr. Toyoda is now in charge of overseas operations, including Europe and Africa.
Mr. Ochiai brings almost 30 years of automotive experience to TME, having first joined TMC in 1979. Over the years, he has held management positions at both the Kamigo and Shimoyama manufacturing plants in Toyota City, Japan. From 1989 to 1992 he worked at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) in the USA. In 2007, he was appointed General Manager, Project Planning and Management Division at TMC.
