Panasonic Toyota Racing: Silverstone and Monza Tests - Day 3

Silverstone and Monza Tests - Day 3

Motorsport
Panasonic Toyota Racing has concluded a highly beneficial three-day test in Italy and Britain today, despite some small problems during today's session. Olivier Panis ended his two days in Monza, completing 49 laps in addition to the 91 from yesterday. Brazilian third driver Ricardo Zonta, meanwhile, continued the programme started by Cristiano da Matta in Silverstone, working on Michelin tyres, aero parts and set-up.

MONZA

Olivier Panis
Chassis: TF103/06
Best lap time: 1m24.040s, 49 laps completed
Working on: Dampers, Michelin tyres, continuation of new spec engine test

"We only managed 49 laps today, which was a shame because we had a big programme planned and we were unable to complete most of it due to some technical problems. Nevertheless over the last two days we have made some good progress for Canada, particularly with the new engine, which is going very well. It is difficult to know where we are compared to the others, we have to wait until we are in Montreal to know fully, but I am quite positive and looking forward to it."

Weather: Hot and sunny (Air 26-32, Track 52 maximum)
Track: Dry all day

SILVERSTONE

Ricardo Zonta
Chassis: TF103/03
Best lap time: 1m22.594s, 51 laps completed
Working on: Car balance, Michelin tyre tests, aerodynamics

"The car feels very good around Silverstone. We did a lot of work today in preparation for the British Grand Prix in a couple of weeks, and we also worked on improving the balance of the car to suit my driving. We did some tyre tests and the car has a very good grip level on new tyres. We were unlucky to have some mechanical problems at the end of the session, which shortened our running time by an hour. As a result, we couldn't quite finish our tyre test, which meant we didn't have the possibility to improve our lap time."

Weather: A cloudy, but dry day (Air 17-21, Track 25-31)
Track: Dry throughout the session
