Jerez Test 12-15 March 2003 - Day 3

Motorsport
Frenchman Olivier Panis enjoyed excellent weather conditions on his first day at the wheel of the TF103 for Panasonic Toyota Racing's third day of testing at the Circuit de Jerez, Spain. Taking over teammate Cristiano da Matta, Olivier drove 67 times around the 4.428km track to achieve a best time of 1.18.983.

Olivier Panis - Car No. 20
Chassis: TF103/05
Best lap time: 1m18.93, 66 laps completed
Working on: Suspension set-up, engine mapping and tyre evaluations

"Well, the least I can say is that we had a productive morning, working on various suspension options and also on engine braking. We started some tyre work this afternoon already looking ahead at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Basically everything went according to plan. We just stopped slightly earlier than expected towards the end of the day as the engine reached the end of its life. Generally we were happy with what we found today as the car responded well to the various changes we were trying."

Weather: Sunny. Air temperature: 15-26ºC.
Track: Dry at all times. Track temperature: 15-35ºC.

Preview:
Panasonic Toyota Racing will conclude its four-day test tomorrow with Olivier Panis still driving the TF103 in Jerez. The Michelin shod teams will complete a tyre programme on an artificially wet track to prepare for the eventuality of unpredictable conditions at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
