Panasonic Toyota Racing: Barcelona Test - Day 2

Barcelona Test - Day 2

Motorsport
Barcelona Test 18-20 February 2003 - Day 2
19 February 2003

Persistent heavy rain poured down on the Circuit de Catalunya today on the penultimate day of this week's Barcelona test. However, the team Panasonic Toyota Racing team made use of the adverse weather conditions to work on wet weather car set-up and also to continue software development work.

Olivier Panis - Car No. 20
Chassis: TF103/01
Best lap time: 1m34.01s, 41 laps completed
Working on: General car set-up in wet conditions

"The TF103 car feels quite good to drive in the wet conditions, I have to say. We did a lot of set-up work today and Michelin have made a big step forward with the wet tyres; we found some interesting things today with the tyres. Some small problems during the day meant that we were not on track when it was at its best, but overall I am very happy with progress."

Cristiano da Matta - Car No. 21
Chassis: TF102B
Best lap time: 1m38.80s, 53 laps completed
Working on: Software testing and development

"The weather has been absolutely dreadful all day. Sometimes the track was so wet it was a big deal just to keep on the track, but the day was not totally lost. We completed some further work on software development that we started yesterday and we also did some pit stop practice to get ready for Australia. I am looking forward to driving the TF103 tomorrow."

Weather: Heavy cloud and rain throughout the session. Air temperature 06 - 08°C.

Track: Wet to very wet throughout the entire day. Track temperature 06 - 09°C.
