Panasonic Toyota Racing: Barcelona Test 08 - 11 July 2003 - Day 2

Barcelona Test 08 - 11 July 2003 - Day 2

Motorsport
Intermittent rain showers played a major part in Panasonic Toyota Racing's testing activities at the Circuit de Catalunya today. But if the very unstable weather stopped play several times in the afternoon, Cristiano da Matta still managed to make the most of his session. The team ran a good part of its scheduled programme revolving mainly around tyre work with partner Michelin.

Cristiano da Matta - Car No. 21
Chassis: TF103/03
Best lap time: 1'm19. 31s, 80 laps completed
Working on: Tyre casing programme and car set-up

"I must say we had quite a good day in spite of the adverse weather. The most difficult is that the track was never really wet or dry. Therefore it was difficult to get consistent runs with changing track conditions. However we managed to do a lot of our tyre casing programme in collaboration with Michelin, in preparations for the summer races. We also did some mechanical set-up work in order to optimise the car's balance with the new tyre constructions. All in all, these two days were reasonably good for me, even if, because of today's circumstances, I leave quite a lot of work to Olivier for the next two days."

Weather: Hot but cloudy all day with intermittent showers. Air temperature: 25-31°C.
Track: Changing from dry to wet. Track temperature: 27-33°C.

Preview:
Tomorrow, Olivier Panis will begin testing with the TF103 and complete the last two days of this week's session in Spain.
