Toyota Writes Race History In NASCAR

Motorsport
Toyota made the double in Atlanta with Kyle Bush finishing in front of Tony Stewart also at the wheel of a Camry. This Toyota victory was the first for a foreign manufacturer in NASCAR since 1954.

After its inaugural year in the Cup Series Toyota already took victory lane at the Atlanta Motor Speedway last Sunday.
"This is a date that will forever go down in the history of Toyota Motorsports. It's obviously a historic Toyota first Sprint Cup win of our short career. Certainly, we were looking at that victory possibility, as last year was a learning year, " said Jim Aust, president and CEO of Toyota Racing Development.

After sharing the lead with Carl Edwards during the race, Kyle Bush took the lead 50 laps to go despite increasing over steer but managed to keep enough distance to the other Toyota driver Tony Stewart.

"It means a lot to go out and win any race any time, but especially here in Atlanta, this place has been such a struggle for me, " Bush said.

Today, Toyota is leading with Kyle Bush the Sprint Cup and the Craftsman Truck Series. Kyle Bush could well become the 2008 hero as only a flat tyre near the end of the Atlanta Nationwide race avoided him to lead the three NASCAR categories with Toyota. Kyle Bush is also the only driver this season who led all the races.

Over the past 25 years, Toyota's US motor sport programs have taken on some of the biggest challenges - winning prestigious events such as the Indianapolis 500, the Daytona 24 Hours, the Pikes Peak Hill climb or the Baja 1000.
